Translation of some chapters of Heartbreak - A Personal and Scientific Journey (2023)

Abstract

The translation project shows some challenges that may encounter any translator translating a self-help book from English into Arabic. This self-help book is a combination of personal experience stories, scientific studies, and discoveries. When you read the book, you will find that the author’s style of writing oscillates between informal expressions while telling an incident, and formal sentences while indicating scientific research. This could cause confusion during the translation process in Arabic to abide by the source text style of writing. In general, my project focuses mainly on theoretical chapters: cultural and ideological differences, omission and adaptation, and medical terminology.
