The categories of jurisprudence principles in Imam Al- Ghazali’s book Al- Mustasfa (An Inductive and Analytical Study)
    (جامعة القصيم, 1445-11-13) الحربي ،هند; الجبر ،نايف
This research aims to identify the rational approaches used in Imam Ghazali’s book al-Mustasfa and elucidates the unique classification adopted by Imam Ghazali. Additionally, this study focuses attention on Ghazali’s rational methodology, its overall impact and influence and its practical application. Hence, it comes to identify the gap in fundamental research. The study is divided into five chapters preceded by a preface and an introduction to which an empirical and analytical approach has been adopted. The introduction highlights the scope, context, and significance of the research, as well as the reasons for choosing the research topic, previous literature and research proposal and methodologies. Meanwhile, the preface starts with introducing Imam Ghazali, his book al-Mustasfa and the fundamental theoretical underpinnings. Subsequently, Chapter one, which has 2 subtopics, discusses the methodological classification adopted by Ghazali. Chapter two explains the preliminary introductions and religious rulings in 12 subtopics. Furthermore, Chapter three examines the classification of evidence of religious rulings in 14 subtopics. Chapter four, which has 15 subtopics, analyses how judgement and reasoning are used in religious rulings. Chapter five, which has 3 subtopics, reviews the classification and requirements of juristic reasoning. Finally, the research ends with a conclusion, findings, recommendations, and indexes. And here are some of the results as followed: 1. The fundamental divisions can be defined as: “the parts and branches under the issues mentioned in the principles of jurisprudence.” 2. A number of jurisprudential divisions came to clarify the understanding of the differences between similar terms, such as divisions of words and divisions of duty. These divisions are mentioned by the majority of scholars of jurisprudence because they are of great benefit to the diligent person and the seeker of knowledge. 3. The fundamental divisions are apparent and clear to Al-Ghazali through his attention to this science. He divided his book into four poles, and divided each pole into several sections. 4. The jurisprudential divisions do not represent a formal aspect related to the way the jurisprudential material is presented by Al-Ghazali; Rather, it is a methodological aspect related to the depth of consideration and understanding of the subject in all its aspects. 5. Al-Ghazali’s keenness and accuracy are evident in presenting the divisions; Because it is the way to control difficult issues. 6. Al-Ghazali’s interpretations are considered a foundation for those scholars who came after him, and this appears clearly in the research. 7. There are many examples that prove that fundamentalist divisions affect jurisprudential disagreement.
