Item Restricted Perceptions and Attitudes of Local Dialects’ Speakers in the Qassim Region Toward Their Dialects: The Case of the Harb Tribe Dialect(Qassim University, 2024-12-14) Alharbi, Hend; Alrojaie، Yousefتتناول هذه الدراسة مواقف وتصوّرات أفراد قبيلة حرب، وهي إحدى القبائل البارزة في شبه الجزيرة العربية، تجاه لهجتهم العربية المحلية. 111 0Item Restricted Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment among Nurses in a Public Hospital in Dammam, Saudi Arabia(Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, 2019) Al-Haroon, Hind Ibraheem Abdualrzaq; Alqahtani, MonaNurses play a fundamental role in the delivery of health care internationally. On the other hand, the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of health care workers, including nurses, are closely connected to the productivity and quality of care provided by health care institutions. The aims of the present study are to explore the level of both job satisfaction and organizational commitment, explore the relationship between them, and examine the impact of sociodemographic key variables (age, gender, education level, years of experience, and monthly salary) on them among nurses in a public hospital in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional descriptive co-relation design was used in this study. A systemic random sample size of 382 was selected, and the questionnaires were distributed among them. Only 337 participants were included in the study, as the other 45 respondents had incomplete data. Statistical analyses, including descriptive, correlation, t-test, ANOVA, and regression analysis, were carried out using SPSS V22.0. The findings of the study revealed that most nurses have moderate levels of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. They also revealed a strong correlation between job satisfaction and organizational commitment. In addition, they demonstrated that job satisfaction was positively related to some personal factors, including being male, being of a non-Saudi nationality, and being older, but negatively related to having a higher monthly salary. while organizational commitment was positively related to only older age and non-Saudi nationality. Further more, the study found that both age and monthly salary were significant predictors of overall job satisfaction, while only age was a significant predictor of overall organizational commitment.16 0Item Restricted Describing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Efforts in Controlling Foodborne Illnesses During Hajj Seasons(Saudi Digital Library, 2021-04-19) Alshanbari, Batool Hamid; Alshrif, AbdullahBackground and purpose: This study is describing the Efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in controlling foodborne illnesses during Hajj seasons (2013-2017). Foodborne pathogens are considered a public health concern worldwide. According to World Health Organization (WHO), the global burden of foodborne diseases shows almost 1 in 10 people fall ill, and 420 000 die every year from eating contaminated food in 2015. In Saudi Arabia, the rapid socio-economic development and urbanization during the last 30 years have contributed in a major way to the dissemination of foodborne pathogens. Foodborne outbreaks increase especially during the summer months and Hajj season. Saudi Arabia has an effective food safety system that includes laws, regulations, and circulars used for the investigation of foodborne illnesses. According to the literature, gastrointestinal illness is ranked as the 5th number for causing health burden and hospital admissions during Hajj. All the authority related to food safety was reviewed and relevant information were elaborated. Further studies are needed to identify the most sources and risk factors that cause foodborne illnesses as well as describing the efforts of health authorities in Hajj and this study was conducted to spotlight some of these needs. Methodology: This is a retrospective literature review study. I reviewed two sources of information. The first source is data describe the numbers, the source of incidences and outbreaks of foodborne illnesses, and the type of pathogens that cause these illnesses were obtained from the Ministry of Health (MOH). The second source is from reviewing the literature regarding this topic. The data was entered and analyzed by Statistical Package of Social Science SPSS, version 26. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages were calculated to summarize nominal and ordinal data. Results: About half of the outbreaks (10 outbreaks) were reported in 2017 alone. The most common source of foodborne illness during these Hajj seasons was food contractors who provided food to the Hajj campaigns (45%). The common risk factor associated with foodborne outbreaks was poor storage of dietary materials (40%). According to the relation between temperatures and foodborne outbreaks, there is a temporal increase of average maximum temperatures during the Hajj season from 2013 to 2017. All foodborne outbreaks are originated from a bacterial source. Conclusion: The food safety control system during Hajj is just a result of the huge efforts of the Kingdom divided on multisector through the years. Despite these efforts, there are still some challenges and opportunities for improvement.45 0Item Restricted Effect of Shift Work on Sleep Quality among nursing staff in Dammam Governmental Hospitals of Saudi Arabia(Saudi Digital Library) AlYousif, Hussain Ali"Background: Shift work has physiological and psychological effects including biological rhythm disruption, sleep disorders, health problems and diminished work performance. Nursing services must be available along 24-hour making shift work a necessity. Objectives: To assess the effect of shift work on perceived sleep quality among nurses at Dammam governmental hospitals. Also, to investigate the risk factors for poor sleep quality among those nurses. Methodology: A comparative cross-sectional survey study among nurses from two randomly selected governmental hospitals within Dammam City during the period from January 2019 to June 2019. data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire composed of socio-demographic and occupational characteristics of nurses as well as Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). Results: A total of 400 nurses participated in this study,293 (73.30 % ) were shift working. ). The global PSQI mean (±SD) score was 9.88 (±4.51), being statistically significant (P 0.013) higher in the shift work group at 10.22 (±4.53) than the only morning shift at 8.97 (±4.38). There was a statistically significant difference in the PSQI score by age, nationality, educational level, and taking sedative or stimulating medications. Conclusion: Shift work significantly lowered sleep quality causing sleep disturbance that impaired functional outcome of studied nurses. Understanding the association between shift work and sleep problems is essential for further recommendations regarding shift work re-scheduling to minimize adverse effects"8 0Item Restricted Burnout and Coping Methods Among Emergency Medical Services Professionals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia(Saudi Digital Library, 2019) Almutairi, Mohammed NasserBackground: Burnout is a syndrome explained as serious emotional depletion with poor adaptation at work due to prolonged occupational stress. Aims: Study aimed to assess the relationship between burnout among emergency medical services (EMS) personnel and the coping strategies to alleviate work stress. Study Settings and Design: Study was cross- sectional and conducted among 270 active duty EMS professionals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. All areas and sub-areas were included in the sample. The most frequently used coping strategies were; talking with colleagues (87.4%), looking forward to off-duty (82.6%), and thinking about the positive benefits of work (81.1%). CMC7 (thinking about the positive benefits of work) significantly decreased emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and improved personal achievement. CMC7 was the most predictor contributed to the variation of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal achievement. Saudis had lower emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. The study provided guidelines for policy and decision makers for developing training programs that can help EMS professionals cope with burnout to prevent adverse health outcomes.15 0Item Restricted DETERMINANTS OF PATIENTS’ DISSATISFACTION AT THE ROYAL COMMISSION HOSPITAL IN JUBAIL- SAUDI ARABIA(Saudi Digital Library) Okour, Mohammad Yousef HasanIn the last few decades, series of conflicts and violence have taken place between patients and healthcare professionals. These have been noticed by workers in healthcare facilities and some of these have been reported in media. Patients who visit healthcare facility engage in communications with healthcare professionals, introducing to healthcare facilities’ rules, regulations, and procedures, exposed to a new environment. And receive medical treatment and procedures. which in all possess the possibility of miscommunication, misperception, misconduct. the impacts: financial, morals of both patients and staff and in some cases injuries that required legal actions. It is indicating the quality of healthcare and alarm safety concerns. The reasons for these incidents are embodied in patients' dissatisfaction which is the topic of this research; to explore, analyze and determine its origins. The primary reason behind the researcher’s choice of patients' complaints for indicating patients' dissatisfaction is simply because patient complaints represent advanced status of patients' dissatisfaction, “They are often formal letters written to a healthcare organization (or regulator) after a threshold of dissatisfaction with care has been crossed.” (Reader, Gillespie, Roberts, 2014). AimsThe study aims to: determine the characteristics of complaints and complainants, find the association between the complaint's variables, and determine meaningful groupings of the complaint's variables. Material and methodsThe study was conducted in Royal Commission Healthcare Special Program-Jubail (RCHSP-J), which consist of community secondary hospital that consists of 150 beds and five Family Medicine Centers (FMC) distributed over the city districts. This is a retrospective study of secondary data from patients’ complaints registration records and patients’ medical record. full population study all 2019 patients’ complaints. The data source used in this study is: patients’ complaints registered and submitted by patients themselves or their families and relatives. Results:396 complaints were registered, 22 variables for each complaint were traced and collected. Variables were grouped into five categories: Demographic characteristics, Patient characteristics, Hospital factors, Circumstances factors, and Complaints characteristics. The result had three parts (levels): descriptive statistics (univariate and bivariate tables, frequencies, percentages) and analytic statistics (chi square measure of association and p-values for test of significance). Further, Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) is carried out to explore patterns among categorical variables as most of the variables are categorical. The univariate tables described the body of the patient complaints in 2019 in RCHSP-J using 22 variables. The bivariate crosstabulations: revealed 28 significant associations between variables and showed trends and patterns represented were 44 of these associations found to be insignificant.Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA): visualized and revealed that the variables’ categorizations used in the study to Patient characteristics, Hospital factors, Circumstances factors, and Complaints characteristics was viable. Conclusion: The study succeeded in shedding light on patients' dissatisfaction as an indicator or alert of urgent need to correct safety, managerial and clinical concerns, has shown that patients' dissatisfaction has both features and determinants that are clearly distinct.Regarding the role of the facility in addressing the issue of patients' dissatisfaction, the following recommendations are made:Firstly, the patient complaint system should be linked with risk management as many of the complaints revealed patient safety concerns which need to be systematically fixed to prevent them from rehappening again. And that patient complaints are not less importance than the occurrence variance reports issued by staff.Secondly, periodic (monthly or quarterly) reports should be issued to show the main concerns in patients’ complaints and follow up on the actions and outcome after actions had been taken.Thirdly, consider the main patient complaints’ concerns as outcome indicator as they reflect the receiver evaluation and opinion in the services which had been delivered. Finally, develop national benchmark for the patient complaints’ concerns as an outcome indicator to evaluate the healthcare facility accordingly and be able to compare different healthcare facilities. One main limitation of the study is the inability to compare the determinants of patients' dissatisfaction with those belonging to the satisfied patients, another limitation is the nature of the data used. Secondary data analysis is limited to the variables collected in the system.1 0Item Restricted LEADERSHIP AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT STYLES AMONG NURSE MANAGERS IN SAUDI ARABIA(Saudi Digital Library, 2020) Alhazmi, Muhaydi Muttalib; Banawas, Saeed SalehBackground: Leaders who can accelerate progress will strengthen the sense of purpose to inspire employee optimism and excitement. This instrument is referred to as the world's most requested and well researched and validated leadership tool and is applied to a wide variety of organizational environments as well as to leaders of various cultures. Results: The 21 items in the MLQ displayed strong internal consistency as determined by the alpha of a Cronbach of 0.77. KMO and Bartlett 's test value was 0.64 which proves that the sample size of 91 is adequate. The MLQ score was little higher in males as compared to female nurses but there was no significant difference. The number of nurses participating in this study was ninety-one (n = 91), out of which 63.7% (n = 58) were females and 37.3% (n = 33) were males. Based on the nursing experience, the MLQ score was highest in experienced nurses having experience of more than 15 years followed with nurses having an experience of 11-15 years. There was no significant difference in any of the leadership style on comparing the male nurses with the female nurses. In chief nurse manager the MLQ score seems to be highest reaching MLQ score of 55. While all five-conflict management methods were used by nursing leaders to resolve disputes with their colleagues, the nurse managers were most likely to use an integrated conflict management style, followed in rank order by avoiding, compromising, competing, accommodating, and collaborating. Avoiding, competing and accommodating were found to be followed at high level. Further, competing and compromising were also reported to be practiced at moderate level. Finally, low level of collaborating was presented in nursing leaders. Transformational leadership style, idealized influence was found to positively correlated with inspirational motivation, contingent reward, management-by-exception and laissez-faire leadership style. Contingent reward was positively correlated with laissez-faire leadership and the level was statistically significant. The transactional leadership style, management-by exception was significantly and positively with laissez-faire leadership style and negatively correlated with compromising and avoiding score. Recommendation: Diligent policies and initiatives are required to enhance the working environment of nurses.42 0Item Restricted The effect of Snapchat on Tourism Marketing in Saudi Arabia(Saudi Digital Library, 2019) Alhisan, Riam; Khawaja, Muhammad JunaidIn the digital era, communication has become more comfortable due to the appearance of accessible modern technology.
